Jane always had her finger on the pulse of her large extended family and was the glue that held us together. She will be deeply missed by us all, including Buster, her golden.

A graduate of Oakwood Collegiate and the University of Toronto, Jane taught grade one for 35 years at York Memorial Elementary School. In retirement, Jane became increasingly active in her community as a member of the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, the Horticultural Society, and Club 35. Large or small, Jane was always up for Friday night dinners with the club. She also retained strong ties to former colleagues through the Retired Teachers Association—a group she lunched with monthly for almost as many years as she taught.

For Jane there was no better feeling than going up the shore to Go Home Bay to gather on the rocks with family and lifelong friends. Summers spent canoe tripping as a young woman, picnics, gardening, and blueberry picking always, along with winters spent snowmobiling across the ice, sustained her.

Generous, loyal, and compassionate with a quirky sense of humour, Jane will be remembered for her knowledge of wildflowers, love of the colour pink and the delight she poured into her Christmas gift giving.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, and McKenzie Health. We extend our deepest gratitude to Christina Lovsin for her care and devotion to Jane. In the 15 years she worked for and with Jane, she became her honorary daughter and family to many of us.

Family will receive friends at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, on Wednesday June 28th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, 10066 Yonge St, Richmond Hill on Thursday, June 29th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Georgian Bay Land Trust would be greatly appreciated.
